An author is any person who instigates, or gives existence to, something. Such broad inclusion as this generalization allows may be applied to a range of uses, from God as author to any creator of a written work on whose authority that work lies. An author may be recognized in a collaborative panel or group, a sculptor, inventor, scientist, student, founder, or any of a wide range of creators.
