Aquarium
An aquarium (plural aquariums or aquaria) is a vivarium consisting of at least one transparent side in which water-dwelling plants or animals are kept. Aquaria are primarily used for fishkeeping, although invertebrates, amphibians, marine mammals, and aquatic plants are also housed in aquaria. The term combines the Latin root aqua, meaning water, with the suffix -arium, meaning "a place for relating to".

אקווריום
אקווריום או אקוואריון הינו מכל להחזקת בעלי חיים מימיים ו/או צמחי מים בעל לפחות דופן אחת שקופה. האקווריום משמש להחזקה וגידול של דגים, דו-חיים, יונקים ימיים, זוחלים מימיים (כגון צבים ופרוקי רגליים מימיים (כגון סוגי סרטנים שונים). אקווריום מכיל מים; שורש המילה אקווריום היא אקווה שפירושה מים, או תכלת. מכל זכוכית ללא מים המאכלס בעלי חיים יבשתיים לשם חקירה, לימוד או הנאה נקרא טרריון.
