הבשורה למרים
"הבשורה" היא, על פי הנצרות, ההודעה שהביא המלאך גבריאל למרים, אם ישו מאת האל, ובה נמסר למריה כי היא הרה, וכי בעוד תשעה חודשים היא תלד בן, שאביו הוא האל. חלק מן הכנסיות הנוצרים חוגג אירוע זה ב-25 במרץ, הנקרא "חג הבשורה". התאריך מציין גם את תשעה החודשים שלפני לידת ישו, המצוין על ידי חג המולד. במקומות שונים נתפש האירוע כמציין תחילת שנה חדשה, כמו באנגליה עד שנת 1752, שם נקרא החג "יום הגבירה" (Lady Day).
